How To Help
Here's how you can help as a...
Volunteer
If you'd like to be a part of The Giving Garden Project, we'd love you to join us as a volunteer! This could be a one off donation for several.
As a volunteer, we'll need support with making bouquets, sourcing flowers and delivering blooms to nominated addresses in your local area.
The more help we have, the more bouquets we can send to those who need them!
See below for our volunteer guide!
Q&A
Who covers the costs of the flowers?
We'll cover any costs associated with your donation. Just send over your receipts and we'll arrange the rest.
Who organises the care home visit?
We'll organise your care home visit. Just let us know your local area/preffered care home.
What should I expect when visiting the care home?
Normally an activity specialist will meet you at the care home and take you to the nominated residents for the all important flower handover. Feel free to have a little chat with the residents too, as they won't have had many visitors.
How should I introduce myself to the residents?
We normally say we're from a non-profit that gives out free flowers to brighten up peoples day, and that they've been nominated for some. We try and keep it as a simple as possible due to a large portion of residents having neurodegenerative diseases.
Where do I get the flowers from?
There are two different options for this. The first being following our PDF guide above and actually building the bouquets yourself. The second option is to buy the bouquets pre made from your local supermarket etc.
How much money can I spend on flowers for my donation?
As a reference we stick to £35 for 5 bouquets, or £28-£30 for 4 bouquets.
I have spare flowers left over from an event, can I donate these?
Absolutely! This is a great way of recycling flowers and making someones day at the same time. Let us know and we'll arrange the donation.
How much time will be required for the donation?
For 5 bouquets you may be there between 15-30 minutes depending on how chatty you would like to be.
Am I able to drop the flowers off without having to talk to the residents?
Absolutely, whatever makes you more comfortable. Just let us know your preference and we'll arrange to suit.
How do you choose which residents to give the flowers to?
We work with the care home staff in picking residents who recieve little to no visitors. Or residents who are going through a hard time.
